we are a co2 Removal (cdr) company based out of India. we are transforming Darjeeling’s struggling tea industry from being at-risk from the effects of climate change, to becoming pioneers for climate action.

our story

for the past decade, darjeeling's tea industry has been in turmoil. profits have plummeted, leading to deforestation and rapid urbanization. over 90% of the tea estates are up for sale, with many being converted into hotels and urban spaces.
amidst this crisis, shrey received a distressing call from his family: their cherished tea estate was being sold. fueled by a deep connection to his home, shrey returned to darjeeling and sought innovative ways to save it
a dedicated team was built to investigate every possible method of carbon removal through agriculture. their mission: to financially and socially uplift the struggling tea estates while making a positive environmental impact.
after months of rigorous research, the team made a groundbreaking discovery. india’s unique geography and climate conditions were perfect for enhanced rock weathering, a method that could significantly remove CO2 from air.
the team recently concluded their lab trials and pilot project. the results have been showing substantial CO2 removal. now, alt carbon is ready to scale, leveraging india's strong advantages & giving back to the darjeeling tea gardens.
